The 13 May 2014

Auvergne has very diverse landscapes but is a mostly mountainous region.

There is a wide range of altitudes in Auvergne: from the highest summit at 1886 meters (Puy de Sancy) to the lowest valley at 250 meters. This means that there are significant contrasts in climate and temperature.

The Auvergne’s mountain climate means a winter of snow and frost. In the summer, warm days and evenings can be expected.

The best time to visit the Auvergne is in the summer months, from June to September, with the autumn months being rather mild.
